Foundry VTT

Use Foundry? Install our module and import any map your membership includes, in one click, from inside Foundry.

Needs Foundry v11 or newer.

  1. Open Install Module

On Foundry's setup screen, go to Add-on Modules and click Install Module. On The Forge, use Install via manifest in your Bazaar.

  2. Paste this manifest URL and click Install
    https://animatedbattlemaps.co.uk/foundry/module.json

  3. Switch it on and sign in

In your world, open Manage Modules and tick Animated Battle Maps. Then, as the GM, click Animated Battle Maps at the top of the Scenes sidebar and click Sign in: Foundry shows a code. Approve it at animatedbattlemaps.co.uk/foundry-link, signed in the usual way. No password is typed into Foundry, and the code lasts 10 minutes. Then pick a map and click Import: it lands in your Scenes, in the Animated Battle Maps folder.

Hero, Conqueror and Emperor

Plain map scenes, for every map your tier lets you download. Hero gets the still images. See the tiers

Questions

How big are the files? Will they fit my upload limit?

Full-quality videos can be several hundred MB. On your own computer Foundry has no limit. On a hosted Foundry (The Forge, Molten and others) they count against your storage, so tick HD (1080p, smaller) in the module: those are the player's own loops, mostly 20 to 30 MB. If an import stops part way, check your free space, then try again; files already in Foundry aren't fetched twice.

Grid or No Grid?

No Grid is the default and uses Foundry's own grid. Tick Grid drawn on the art to get the Grid file instead; Foundry's grid is then hidden so you don't see two.

Can I use Foundry without the module, or offline?

Yes. On a pack's page, under Downloads, pick Using it in: Foundry VTT and download the zip.

  1. Unzip it. Move the pack's folder (the one with Grid, No Grid and Foundry inside) into Foundry's Data folder, so it sits straight in Data and not in an extra folder. Data is in %localappdata%\FoundryVTT\Data on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/FoundryVTT/Data on a Mac and ~/.local/share/FoundryVTT/Data on Linux. On The Forge or another host, upload the folder with Foundry's file browser instead.
  2. In Foundry, make a new scene, right-click it in the Scenes sidebar and choose Import Data.
  3. Pick the map's file from the pack's Foundry folder.
Are backdrops in the module?

No. Download backdrops from their pack's page.

How do I sign out?

Click Sign out in the module's window, or unlink a Foundry from the account menu on this site.

Do I need Foundry to play?

No. Every map also plays on this site, with a grid, tokens, fog, measuring, initiative and dice. See the ABM Player
